Does anime sometimes makes us think about our history and learn from it?

I was backtracking Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood, and as I'm watching it, does anyone think that there are elements that happened in parallel to one of the turning points in mankind's history, World War II, like I do. Sounds preposterous right? Yeah you might call that, but I recall one scene that one of the Fuhrer's loyal subordinate inviting over Major Olivia Mira Armstrong to sacrifice Briggs and its army so they, together with "Father" could make a utopian country by using the power of the philosopher's stone. And that scene that Father said that he is greater than "God" and he could make a perfect world, a world where he will rule over for a long while, in exchange of many lives, and only his followers will live under his wing. Scary yes, because back in World War II, Hitler and the Third Reich are shouting the same parallel thoughts as the main antagonists in FMA Brotherhood are trying achieve.

I know, anime shouldn't be taken serious, but like Final Fantasy Tactics that tackles the power struggle and the desire of the Glabados Church to reign over Ivalice, seems to rhyme over Vatican's aim to take control over world's government and rule it over, Full Metal Alchemist also goes into that same vortex. It is like the author of this anime is kind of teaching us a lesson that we should not turn our backs from the past, instead learn from history and make sure it will happened again in the futures to come. I truly love Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood for this, and I applaud the effort of Hiromu Arakawa,  for inserting subliminal facts about history of the second World War in his masterpiece. For that, I really thank you, I learned so much.....
